Altana celebrated youth month by participating in a national savings challenge inviting area youth to learn how to be a Super Saver and put those lessons into action. Every deposit made during the month was entered into a drawing to win one of two movie baskets. At the end of April, Altana received 668 youth deposits and opened 24 new youth accounts worth $73,742.77 in deposits. The winners of the movie baskets were 3 year old Kyndall Peterson and 17 year old Collin Sitton.
Altana also offered area teachers the opportunity to win $500 by allowing Altana Federal Credit Union to present a lesson on financial literacy in their classroom. Altana visited 48 classrooms and reached 1033 students. Students K- 8th grade received lessons on budgeting and saving, denominations of money, the difference between wants versus needs and how to spend, share, and save money in a responsible manner.
