In 1949, nine determined Montana refinery workers gathered in an empty box car, to pool their hard-earned cash in a humble cigar box. It’s hard to imagine they could have known the impact they would have on the lives of so many members today.
Who We Serve
Membership is available to individuals who live, work, worship or attend school in our field of membership of forty counties in Montana and nine counties in Wyoming, or are a relative of an Altana member. We’re ready to welcome you with a smile, chat about money, and serve up friendly advice!

How do I join?
If you live, work, worship, or attend school in our 40 Montana and 9 Wyoming counties, or are a relative of an Altana member, you can join! To belong to our financial cooperative, you must open and maintain a member savings account with a minimum deposit and balance of $25, ($5 if you are ages 0-11). Learn more or join now.
What is a cooperative?
A cooperative, or co-op, is an organization or business owned by its members that work together to meet their common needs and goals and have a voice in how it is run.
