What is the yield on my portfolio?

A common way to track investment performance is to compute an annualized return. This task becomes difficult when complicated by taxes, fees, dividends, and trading activity. The following calculator makes calculating yields easy; it computes the before and after tax yield for an investment with up to 9 trading activities.
First, enter the beginning and ending dates of the time period you wish to analyze. Next, enter the total portfolio value on these dates. Finally, enter the transactions (including buys, sells, taxes, fees and dividends) that occurred between the beginning and ending dates.
Click the "Add" button to enter new transactions.

Calculator tips

This calculator uses "daily" compounding to compute the yield over the time period entered.

This calculator computes taxes on sell events and dividends. Cost basis and fees reduce the amount of a sell transaction subjected to tax. Fees reduce the amount of dividend subject to tax.

Be sure not to enter dividend transactions if they are already included in your "current balance". If you do, the dividend will be double counted and the yield will be overstated.

Home equity options

A home equity is handy for unexpected expenses, like when you accidentally put the wrong soap in the washing machine and have an instant foam party (not that you’d do that). A home equity loan can pay for planned events (like a pool party when you’re missing, say…the pool).
